As we all know, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) are at the core of crypto communities, representing the embodiment of community-driven decision-making. In line with this ethos, the Lattice Gateway community is taking strides to enhance its governance structure. Building upon the groundwork laid by LIP#7, we present — [LIP#8] Proposal Committee Implementation. This proposal marks a pivotal step in our journey towards a robust and efficient DAO.

The Proposal Committee: A Necessity
In the dynamic landscape of crypto, precision and adaptability are vital. LIP#8 suggests the establishment of a Proposal Committee within the Lattice Gateway DAO. This committee will act as a guardian, overseeing, supporting, reviewing, and evaluating governance proposals. It ensures compliance with regulations, fostering a fair and equitable environment for proposal creators and collaborators.
Transparent Decision-Making
LIP#8 champions transparency and accountability. Two voting options, “Accept this proposal” and “Reject this proposal”, will ensure that the community’s voice is heard. The proposal allocates up to 110,000 $LTX annually to the Proposal Committee, mirroring the maximum attainable bonus rewards.
Committee Composition and Requirements
The Proposal Committee will comprise five members: four elected by the community, and one appointed by the Lattice Gateway team. Members, whether from within or outside the Lattice Gateway community, must possess a grasp of the DAO and crypto space. Their role includes supporting proposal creation, maintaining the proposal process, and rating governance proposals.
Tasks at Hand
The Proposal Committee’s responsibilities extend to a wide array of tasks, from maintaining the Commonwealth forum to announcing proposals and verifying their technical feasibility. They will also be open to consultation with any future Lattice Gateway bodies, ensuring a cohesive approach to governance.
Candidacy, Elections, and Terms
Candidacy for the committee is open to all, including current members seeking re-election. The staggered introduction of members every quarter ensures a smooth transition. During elections, candidates present themselves to the community via AMAs and answer relevant questions. Elections are determined by simple majority vote.
Term of Office
Members serve a twelve-month term, during which they must uphold neutrality and diligence in their duties. The first term accommodates different lengths for each member, ensuring continuity.
Remuneration
Committee members receive remuneration in the form of base and bonus rewards. Base rewards ensure ongoing activities are rewarded fairly, while bonus rewards are tied to the number of successful proposals reviewed each quarter.
Review and Accountability
The Proposal Committee undergoes regular external reviews by the Lattice Gateway team to ensure compliance. Warnings and removal mechanisms are in place for misconduct.
Voting Date: Wednesday, September 6th
We understand the importance of providing enough time for community members to review and discuss the proposed enhancements. The voting process will commence on Wednesday, September 6th at 17:00 UTC and will continue for a duration of 7 days, providing enough time for participants to cast their votes.
